Biography

 

Julieta Da Purificaçao Manassas, known as Julieta Manassas, is fashion designer, costum designer, tailor. Julieta Manassas opens her Atelier in Bologna in the year 2009 – a creative and innovative venue where Fashion, Design and Eco-design are mixed with art and experimentation – to express her fashion style, her African roots and her passion and flair from the production of theatrical costumes up to the tradition of a small handcrafts atelier. Julieta creates collections and tailor-made dresses, mixing vintage and new pathways in fashion. Julieta designs her own models which reflects in the colors the handcrafted traditions of Angola, here translated in the contemporaneity inspired to international high couture – from Chanel to Dior, from Armani to Oscar de la Renta and Emilio Pucci. The choice of her high quality textiles – from the silks of Pucci and Ives Saint Laurent to African waxprints from Ivory Coast and Guinea – it is within the respect of nature. Born in the capital of Angola, Luanda, on the 10th January 1973, Julieta lives in Italy since 1995. She wins a European Union scholarship for a professional course as Fashion Designer at Gruppo La Perla, where she is conferred the Certificate as Industrial Women Fashion Designer. She graduate at the Institute Carole Secoli of Bologna, where she gets her Master as Industrial Fashion Designer and Women Dress Designer. She also complete courses for lingerie and size manifacturing. Within the framework of the European Union, she attend the professional training as Theatre Costume Designer and Stage Tailor, with a stage at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Thanks to this training, she works for 3 years as the Teatro Regio in Parma. She then deepens her industrial knowledge by collaborating as freelance with several fashion businesses, among which Collection Privée and Hettabrez. She dedicated her designing skills also to cinema and video making as Costum Designer and stage seamstress. She loves to sum up her creative thinking with a saying: ‘After all a dress is just a masking – a representation of one’s own self in order to face the performance of life.’

 

 

Julieta Da Purificaçao Manassas, in arte Julieta Manassas è stilista costumista modellista sarta.  Nasce a Luanda, capitale dell’Angola il 10 gennaio 1973 e vive in Italia dal 1995. Ottiene una Borsa di Studio Unione Europea per un corso professionale di operatrice dell’abbigliamento presso il Gruppo La Perla, dove consegue il Certificato Modellista Industriale Donna. Si diploma all’Istituto Carlo Secoli di Bologna e ottiene il master come modellista industriale e figurinista donna. Inoltre completa i corsi di intimo e sviluppo taglia. Sempre nell’ambito della Comunità Europea frequenta il corso di Costumista e sarta di scena e stage presso il Teatro Comunale di Bologna, grazie al quale lavora tre anni al Teatro Regio di Parma. Approfondisce l’esperienza industriale collaborando freelance con diverse aziende del settore, tra le quali Collection Privee ed Hettabrez. Si dedica anche a cinema e videoclip come costumista e sarta di scena. Ama ricordare spesso con una frase il suo pensiero creativo:”In fondo un vestito è sempre un mascheramento, una rappresentazione di sé per affrontare la scena della vita”.
